IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Waid
Stracener
November 29, 1951 – December 22, 2025
Celebration of Life
Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Waid Henry Stracener, age 74, of Ogden, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2025.
Waid was born on November 29, 1951, in Midwest, Wyoming, to Mary Viola Olsen and Calvin Ira Stracener. He grew up with a love for the outdoors and an adventurous spirit that stayed with him throughout his life.
Waid was married to Lisa Stracener on September 15, 1979. Together they shared nearly 35 years of marriage and built a life centered on family. They were later divorced but remained close friends afterward, continuing to share mutual respect and care for one another.
Waid was a proud business owner and entrepreneur, founding and operating Rocky Mountain Roofing, a business he worked hard to build and took great pride in. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, he earned the respect of colleagues, clients, friends, and family alike.
An avid skier and golfer, Waid found his greatest joy on the mountain. Skiing was by far his favorite passion, and he spent as much time as possible at Snowbasin, embracing the slopes and the freedom they gave him. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and his children, cherishing the time spent together and the memories made along the way.
Waid's personality was as memorable as his smile. He was fun, funny, carefree, and adventurous—someone who truly went with the wind. Athletic and naturally coordinated, he approached life with enthusiasm, humor, and an easygoing spirit that drew people to him wherever he went.
Recently, Waid rescued his beloved dog, Dot, who quickly became his constant companion. Dot was a fan favorite everywhere they went and helped keep Waid social in his neighborhood and out on the slopes. Waid loved Dot dearly and took him skiing and nearly everywhere else, forming a bond that brought him immense happiness.
Waid is survived by his son, Alex Stracener; his daughter, Natalie Stracener; his grandchildren, William Alexander Stracener and George Phillip Whitney IV; and his brothers, Robert Stracener (Calvin), Terry Stracener, and Joe Muniz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Viola Olsen and Calvin Ira Stracener, and his sisters, Mary Jo (Russ) and Linda.
A celebration of life service will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah, on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. An open mic will be available for family and friends to share stories, memories, and the laughter Waid was so well known for.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in loving memory of Waid to Furever Friends Animal Oasis, or to an animal rescue organization meaningful to the donor
