Wallace Thayne Williams died Wednesday, December 21, in Ogden, Utah at the age of 83. His big heart spread love and support for family and many good friends over the years, but gave out in the end. His passing was peaceful. Thayne leaves his wife Georgia, daughter Karen (Jerry Burns), and sons Kent (Anne) and Mark, 7 grandchilden, and 9 great grand children Thayne was born in Logan Utah, in 1928. He attended Ogden High School and Weber State College and proudly served in the US Navy in the south Pacific just after WW2. He worked for the US Postal Service, beginning his career running mail on the train between Ogden and Cheyenne and retiring from his post at the Salt Lake City Post Office in 1983. He was also gainfully employed in projects to numerous to mention for family and friends in need of a hand. His crowning achievement was supervising a motley crew of family and friends in building a beautiful vacation home at Bear Lake, a place and state of mind that will serve his extended family for years to come. He loved life and being with his family, even (especially) when that meant traveling from coast to coast, and from south America to Mexico and the south Pacific to be with them. He loved being outside, and had many camping trips in the red rock deserts and mountains of Utah. A more dramatic demise was prevented after a blizzardy rescue while snowmobiling near Powder Mountain several years ago. Thayne and some pals were admonished that at the age of 80 they should in easy chairs at an old folks home. Memorial services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary on Wednesday, December 28 at 2PM. Friends and family may also arrive at 12:30 at Leavitts for visiting and reminiscing. There will also be a gathering of friends and family at Thayne and Georgias home after the services from 3:00 to 5:00.The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Bonneville Dialysis Center, and Ogden Regional Hospital for their skillful, professional, and caring support. The family requests that in Lieu of flowers that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Utah or charity of your choice.
