Walter Salazar, Born May 9, 1938 in Santa Fe, NM to Lucas Salazar & Consuelo (Connie) Herrera, passed away peacefully at home, May 14, 2015. Walt was a long time Ogden resident, a friend to many, who seemed to meet and make acquaintances wherever he went. He graduated with honors from Ben Lomond High School (Class of 1956) and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, service for which he was most proud. He married Vickie Lou Westenskow (later divorced), they had a son, Shawn Walter, and a daughter, Sara Ann. Walt later graduated from Weber State College and began a 30 year career at Hill AFB, while again serving his country in the Air Force Reserve where he retired as Master Sergeant after 29 years of service. Walt later married Clara Loy Olson (deceased) and helped raise Michael and Mitzi Baker. After an accident left Loy incapacitated, Walt showed tremendous compassion and resolve as a constant caretaker, while at the same time raising several grandchildren who had been left in his care Skylar Watkins, Lukus Sherman, and Alliyah Aleshire whom are grateful to their Papa for his selfless service.
