Wayne Allan Jacobson, age 78, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 23, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born December 27,1940, in Bell, California, the son of Norman LeRoy Jacobson and Alice Pearl Belnap. Wayne attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in History. He met and married the love of his life, Beverly, while at BYU. He worked in the historical department for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 30 years. He served an LDS mission in Denmark, a senior couple mission, with his wife, in Palmyra, NY, as well as another couple mission at the Family History Library in SLC and a service mission at the West Jordan Employment Center. He enjoyed serving in the Jordan River Temple in many areas. Wayne loved being able to influence young men for good, through the Order of the Arrow. He loved Boy Scouts and teaching primary. He was a registered member of the BSA for 62 consecutive years, in which time he was awarded the Silver Beaver among many other awards. He also loved, respected and admired Native American culture. One of his very favorite activities was camping, whether with family or scouts. Each year, he looked forward to family reunions with his children and grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Beverly Jean Gilbertson along with 8 children; Paul (Cathryn), Mark (Michelle), Dave (Helena), Dan (Jenna), Becca, Rachel (John), Ruth (Jon) and Steve "Jake", 20 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Norman and Alice and all his siblings Lyle, David, Norma and Dale.
