Wayne King passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 13, 2019. The tenth of 11 children, he was born April 24, 1932, in Lincoln, Idaho to Forrest Fountain and Mary Celesta Lee King. His parents had a family of nine boys and two girls. Wayne married Karen Ethel Fife on October 26, 1959. Their vows were solemnized on January 22, 1967, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. Wayne graduated from Ogden High School in 1950, lettering in baseball and boxing. He boxed in the Ogden Area AA. Wayne joined the Navy and served nine years, fighting in the Korean War and serving in the northern and southern regions in the Pacific. After leaving the Navy, he returned to Ogden and joined the Ogden City Police Department where he served for three years. He then joined the Weber County Sheriffs Department serving there for 23 years. He served through all the ranks of the police force and finished his career as Chief Deputy. Since retirement, he served in many callings in the Washington Terrace 5th Ward, enjoyed making toy boxes and rocking chairs in his wood shop for his grandchildren and especially loved to work in his yard. He enjoyed long car rides, traveling and family vacations. Wayne is survived by his two sons and their spouses: Kenneth (Eileen) King, Roy; and Jimmey (Amy) King, West Warren; and one sister Larae King Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Ethel King; a son Larry Wayne King; parents; eight brothers; and one sister.
