Wayne Ray Rives, age 87, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018, with his loving family by his side.
Wayne was born February 25, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, the fifth son of Rell W. Rives Sr. and Muriel Tuttle Rives. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1949 and attended Weber College and Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years and was a Korean War veteran. He married his sweetheart, Ruthmarie Clark, on July 12, 1956.
Wayne retired from Hill Air Force Base after 36 years of service as a Systems Analyst.
He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, a member of Unity Lodge #18 Free & Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite and recipient of the 33rd degree in 2003. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Utah, Miriam Chapter #14 and served as the Patron for five years. He served as the Worthy Grand Patron in 2005-2006 at the "Loving, Giving and Forgiving" session. He was also a member of El Kalah Shrine, Salt Lake City, Utah.
His hobbies included golfing, traveling, reading and family activities.
Wayne is survived by his wife Ruthmarie, sons Gregory L. (Laurie), Michael J. (Shelly) and daughter Holly (Tom) Campbell; grandchildren Lauren (Eric) Johnston, Landon (Josephine) Rives, Meghan Campbell, Natalie (Josh) Davis, Tayler Campbell, Austin Rives, and one great-granddaughter Madison Johnston. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Glismann, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rell W. Rives, Sr. and Muriel Rives, brothers Rell Jr. and Frank and sisters Mary Lou and Joyce.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Monday, June 11, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. A celebration of life will be held following the graveside services.
Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Huntsman Breast Cancer Center, 2000 Circle of Hope Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
