Obituary

William "Bill" Ray BeebeBill, 89, passed away on March 23, 2012. He was born December 19, 1922 in Las Vegas Nevada to Cleo Beckstead. His birth certificate states Robert B. Dewigans as his father but his mother raised him with the name of Junior Cavaney. When he was 17 his mother told him he should use William Beebe.He spent his younger years in Whitney, Idaho on his grandfathers farm and in Ogden City where he sold newspapers on 25th Street. He did construction work until age 17 when he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was assigned to the blasting crew at the Soapstone Camp building the Mirror Lake Highway. He worked at the Ogden Arsenal where he was a high explosives packer. He joined the Army in 1942 and was stationed at an Army Air Corp base in Nome, Alaska where he worked as a mechanic and truck driver. He never fought the enemy, just the cold. He was discharged in December 1945 and went into civilian work at Hill AFB in Power Ground and then as a mechanic for Missile Transports. He married Geraldine Hardy in 1949. In 1962 they adopted a son, Dale Ray. Bill retired in 1973 and went to work for Lloyd Burnham Auto Repair until the mid-1990s. In 1990 he Geraldine divorced. Bill liked bowling on senior leagues in the Ogden area. He had been member of the Ogden Eagles Aerie and was a current member of the Golden Spike Elks Lodge. He was a Patriot, loving his country and flag. He is survived by his son Dale (wife, Pam) and ex-wife Geraldine. There will be a viewing at Leavitts Mortuary on Tuesday, March 27 from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday, March 28 from 1:00-1:45 prior to a graveside service beginning at 2:00 p.m.Interment in Aultorest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to: Golden Spike Elks Lodge, 1875 West 5200 South, Roy, UT 84067 in Bill Beebes name for the care of veterans.
