William Howard Bosgieter, 91, Phoenix, Arizona, died peacefully January 5, 2018, in Scottsdale Arizona. He was born November 30, 1926, in Ogden, Utah, the oldest son of William Simon Bosgieter and Hilda Leone Allen Bosgieter. Howard graduated from Ogden High School with ROTC training and proceeded to join the U.S. Army in 1945, serving honorably in both WWII and the Korean Conflict.
On May 24, 1949, Howard married Violet May Valentine. The marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1995. Howard was active in the Boy Scouts of America, teaching young men the importance of gun safety (NRA trainer) and the love of the out of doors. He was a member of the Cactus View Ward in Phoenix, Arizona. He enjoyed time with family, his occupation as US Postal Service Vehicle Analyst and especially hunting and fishing.
Surviving are son, Craig Bosgieter (Gail); and daughter, LuAnn B. Johnson (Ray); five grandchildren: Shaun Johnson, Mariann Mear, Lauren Hardin, Tim Bosgieter and Katie Macfarlane; 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are: Ronald J. Bosgieter (Sandy) of Willard; Donald G. Bosgieter of South Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert; and three sisters: Lucille, Dorothy, and LaVern.
Services will be held February 3, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Leavitts Chapel of Flowers Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
