William Laray Hodson (1934–2024)
William Laray Hodson, 90, of Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Born to William Walter Hodson and Annie Cook in Layton, Utah on August 14th, 1934. At just 16 years old, Bill developed his lifelong passion for aviation. As a flight instructor at Ogden Airport, he shared his love of flying with many, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Throughout his career, Bill had the privilege of taking many unforgettable trips, forging friendships, and accumulating a lifetime of experiences in the sky. As a corporate pilot for Hertz Rent A Car and Jack B Parson, he not only flew planes but also built lasting memories with colleagues and friends, shaping a memorable legacy.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his previous wives, Sharon Estes and Carolyn Conterno. He was also preceded by his son, Bill (Billy) Hodson. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 38 years, Elynn Hodson, and his daughters: Jill (Don) Carper, Marti Hodson, and Jennifer (Travis) Canfield, Stepdaughter Amy (Tom) Blandi, stepson John (Sherry) Jessop and grandkids Madison McPheeters and Will Jessop. Bill was a proud grandfather to Trevor Nichols, Dayna Nichols, Amber Meyer, Hannah Canfield, and Gage Canfield, and was blessed with three great-grandsons: Hudson, Houston, and Harrison Meyer.
Celebration of life will be held on January 17, 2025 at the Ogden Country Club 4197 So. Washington Blvd Ogden. From 4-7 pm.
